Apps for Cats

I want to share with you some apps I found for the iPad that I have found absolutely hysterical, and those with cats will more than likely agree. The main app that I love is called ‘Game for Cats’ and it is exactly what the title says..it is a game for cats. I downloaded this game, got my cats’ attention, and giggled for a good 20 minutes straight as my two lovey’s tried so hard to catch that darn mouse on the screen.

Another great app that they make is called ‘Paint for Cats’. This one is the same type of app but instead of just the mouse running around aimlessly, it adds the fun factor of each time your cat touches the screen it paints either a paw print or paint smudge on the screen in different colors. In the end you have a very colorful ‘painting’ created by your cat! You can save it and even share it on Facebook or Twitter. Very cute!

So if you have a cat in your home, definitely be sure to check out this app. ;)

Investing in my Business

I’ve been bad…I know. I have no excuse for not posting more regularly!! But I want to share with you my new toy! I just got it the other day and it kills me that I haven’t been able to really use it much. I’ve been swamped at work and with the shop, I just haven’t had a chance. I finally bought my very own DSLR with my own hard-earned cash. I can not even begin to explain to you how proud of myself I am.

I promise you that I will take lots of beautiful photos soon and post them up for you all to see! I want to get in the habit of taking photos on the weekends when I actually get to experience the daylight hours. With daylight savings time, it’s dark when I go to work and it’s dark again when I come home. It’s pretty depressing actually.

Does anyone have any good DSLR/photography tips for a beginner? I’d love to hear them!

First Day of Fall // Upcoming Crafts Fair

It is the first day of fall! How crazy is that? It seems like summer was ripped from our grasps at the very end. It was very sad, but I’ve brushed myself off and facing this fall season with open arms! Fall is probably one of my favorite seasons, as I’ve mentioned many times before. I’m so excited for what is to come for the remainder of the year!

For those in the Danbury, CT area should come and see me Sunday, October 2nd! I am taking part in a craft fair for the grand opening of a new shop in Brookfield, CT called ‘Somewhere in Time’. It is *the* cutest shop, I love it! If you are a big Etsy fan, or just someone who loves handmade, then this place is for you. You’ll find such an array of goods from jewelry, to soaps, to garden items, to items for your favorite pooch!

I would absolutely love it if you came down to say hello and see what this great shop has to offer. It’ll be a great time and would be a fantastic way to kick off the fall season! In the mean time, check out their Facebook fanpage and you can see some of the great local artisans who are taking part in this craft fair and also see more of what this shop has to offer.

Inspiration Workshop // The Family Room

Inspiration comes from everywhere it seems. One particular place that I’ve recently found that is *FULL* of inspiration, is a wonderful site called Pinterest. For this entry, I’m using it to collect an array of family room/living room collections. I’m linking up for the first time in Gussy Sews’ Inspiration Workshop and this week’s prompt is Family Rooms, so I hope you’ll enjoy my collection!

I absolutely love the open floor plan of this room, and it’s still kept intimate with a cozy sectional.

Every house should have at least one window seat. It is a perfect spot to curl up with a book and a bunch of blankets on a rainy day. *Love*

Isn’t this the coolest trundle-bed you’ve ever seen? It’s so smart and functional in so many ways. It would be perfect for those who have a fair amount of overnight guests(and no extra bedrooms) and want to have something that can be tucked away. Beats a fold out couch any day!

I hope you’ve enjoyed a peek into my inspiration boards. If you really like this and want to see more, please feel free to follow the rest of my inspiration boards on Pinterest.If you’re on Pinterest already, let me know your username and I’ll check out your boards too!

Til next time..

Enter to Win // Gussy Giveaway

A lot of you may already know this, but I absolutely *LOVE* Gussy Sews. I think Gussy creates the cutest product and her customer service is out of this world! I personally own a few of her items, including one of the items she is giving away today!

Gussy is giving away four, count ‘em, FOUR of her fabulous ruffly headbands. I own one of these, and let me tell you, they are probably my favorite headbands, and I’ve tried a lot. I typically have issues with the bands hurting my head or falling down, and these do neither. I can wear mine all day and totally forget about it. They’re great!

What I recommend doing right now is heading over to Gussy’s blog and enter to win these headbands! They’re in new colors and patterns perfect for the fall. I think I may have to pick up one or two for myself. ;)

Enjoy and let me know what you think! :)

::Crossroads of Seasons::

I feel like I’m at a crossroads right now. I don’t want summer to end, but at the same time, I can’t wait for fall to begin. There’s nothing I love better than fall here in New England. The leaves are beautiful, the crisp air and smell of spices.

How can you not love it here? I had to move away from the North East once, and I don’t think I could do it again. I know people complain about the winter here, but honestly, it could be worse. Having the four seasons like this is perfect for me, and how I want it to always be. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. ;)

I am so ready for carving pumpkins this year. They’re going to be awesome, like the ones above possibly? Or maybe I’ll do another rendition of my Jack Skellington ones from two years ago, but in white like the ones pictured below?

What is your favorite jack o’ lantern design? Do you like to do something simple like a monogram, maybe create a crazy design, or do you prefer the more traditional toothy grin? Share your favorite design! :)

10 Years…A Day of Remembrance…

10 Years…I can’t believe it has already been that long ago. It is a day that we will never, ever, forget.

I can remember it so vividly too. We had just moved down to Florida a little over a year earlier and school had only been in session about a month. I was sitting in my Sociology class and we were working on a project. The phone rings and the look on our teacher’s face was full of shock and disbelief from what the person on the other end was telling them. He changes the channel on the TV and every channel is showing it, the top of the first tower is engulfed in smoke and flames. It feels like we’re watching a movie, it didn’t even seem real. We all stared in silence while it happened, the second tower was hit. We didn’t know what to do, we felt helpless. We spent the rest of the class just watching. The rest of the day continued the same way, teacher’s tried to continue with their lesson plans, but no one could concentrate. The TV’s in the lunchroom were even tuned into the events that were unfolding. It was such a surreal experience, and if that was how I was feeling, I can only imagine what those in New York City and Washington DC were feeling.

We will always remember what happened that day and we will never forget those who lost their lives that day and the loved ones that they left behind. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.

Happy Labor Day Weekend! {Anniversary Giveaway}

::Comments are now CLOSED::

Happy Labor Day weekend everyone! This is our last “hoorah” for summer and then its Hello! Fall!! Fall is one of my favorite seasons, mainly because I get to wear really cute boots. ;) But seriously, it really is a great season. You get to feel that crispness in the air, see all the beautiful colors of the changing leaves, and the smell of cinnamon is wonderful! I think what really kicks off the autumn season for me is when I get my first cup of Pumpkin Spice coffee. It is, by far, my favorite coffee flavor and I wish I could drink it all year long. Yumm!!

So I wanted to share with all of you my one year anniversary selling on Etsy. It has been such a wonderful experience and I have learned so much. Over the past year I’ve grown as an individual and I also have met some really wonderful people in this community. I really can not wait to see what the next year will bring.

I wanted to do something special to celebrate my anniversary. It’s been a bumpy road but it’s coming along pretty nicely I think. It has just recently begun picking up for me in the shop and I could not be happier. This all would not have been possible without the encouragement and support from all of you. As a thank you I wanted to do a giveaway to all of my readers.

I have been thinking long and hard about what I wanted to give away, but I could not decide on one particular item as I wanted it to be something everyone would enjoy. So I have decided to give away a $50.00 shop credit to be used on anything in the store!!

My deepest apologies…

Time flies doesn’t it? I realized the other day, amidst my packing and moving and also lovely Hurricane Irene, that I was supposed to celebrate my one year Etsy anniversary last weekend! How could that have slipped my mind?? I just wanted to take a moment and apologize for that and to promise it won’t happen again. ;)

Stay tuned for the run down on my anniversary celebration! It’s time for me to get my beauty rest now, but stay tuned for it in the morning!
