Knitting, knitting, and more knitting..

Wow, it’s been a while. I really need to get better at this whole blogging thing. Though I feel like I start off almost every blog that way, it is the truth.

So I picked up a new hobby, yay! I learned how to knit back in December, thanks to my Mom, who helped me start on a cowl. Well, I finally finished it last week. Let me start off by saying, this thing is gigantic. I don’t know why I’m such a horrible judge of size, but I had in my head it was much smaller. But once I casted off and actually looked at it off the needles, I realized I probably could’ve stopped awhile ago. Ah well, lesson learned. It’s still super soft and snuggly and I still love it, it’s just really big. It’ll be good to have next winter when the bitter temperatures start rolling in. As for now, we’re hoping to go full steam ahead to warmer spring temperatures here in the NorthEast!

So that brings me to my next project. I have thrown myself into this whole knitting thing, and I found some great patterns. I actually started working on a tiny baby pod to be used in newborn photography. {No, it is not for me, so please don’t start inquiring or jumping to conclusions. ;)} It’s a really pretty chocolaty brown shade in a more bulky yarn, so there’s a lot of texture in it. I’m hoping to have it finished next week, so we’ll see. That is my goal now; to work on smaller projects so I can have more of a variety instead of dragging out one big project that will take me months to finish. I get bored easily, so that’s never a good idea.

That’s about all I have for now. I want to get back to more knitting before I have to head into work. I’ll be sure to post photos of my finished projects soon.

Wrap Bracelets and Cork board Galore!

Ok, maybe not “Galore”…but you know what I mean. ;)

So I have been working on this bracelet for the past three days. I *FINALLY* finished it tonight. I made it using the cord I got at the bead show and some multi-colored jasper beads I had. It turned out fantastic and I actually think I may be keeping this one for myself. I’ll make another one for the shop I’m sure, but this one turned out so pretty I can’t bear to part with it. I also need to start making things for me as well, I don’t do that enough. I need to be able to wear it out and promote my own work! haha

I unfortunately do not have a photo yet, as I couldn’t get a good photo of it with the lack of lighting in this room. I’ll have to wait til the morning so I can use the morning sunlight to brighten the room up. So I promise, there will be a photo of it tomorrow!

I was in Homegoods the other day and saw something that would be perfect for the office. It was a framed cork board{yeah I know, how can a framed cork board be anything special?} and it was so pretty! It was in a pretty blue antique frame and I loved it, but unfortunately didn’t buy it because the room I wanted it in is also blue. So yeah…that wouldn’t have worked out too well. I still liked it though and wanted to show Bil and he agreed to come with me to see it. I showed it to him and he loved it too{double yay!}! I was determined to find it in the antique white that I was hoping for, and lo and behold, in the back corner of the store was the cork board frame in Antique White!!! I was ecstatic! So we scooped it right up and off we went, after we paid for it of course.. ;)

It’s still sitting here on the ground waiting to be mounted though, and hopefully tomorrow it will be hanging nicely on the wall. I’m so excited! I want to use it as an inspiration board for myself. I’ll be sure to take pictures after it’s all up and complete.

Well time to get moving. I want to work more on my knitting tonight, I really want to finish this cowl. I’m determined to get it done by the end of next month. That is my goal, and I feel like its pretty realistic. Again, photos will come after it is complete. :)

Procrastination…you will be the end of me…

I hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend so far! I actually have a Saturday off which doesn’t happen too often, so it’s a nice treat. Now if only my hubby had it off too, then it would be even better! We did have a very enjoyable breakfast with some great friends of ours this morning, so at least our day started off on the right foot. :)

Now I’m sitting here about to finish up some orders while I started thinking about how many crafts I wish I could do. I recently learned how to knit(my mom taught me when she was in town last month) and I’ve been working on making a cowl for myself. It’s really coming along quite nicely and I’m hoping to finish soon. I’ll be sure to post photos when its finished. My next step is to try my hand at making coffee cup cozies and maybe slipper socks. We’ll see how well that pans out. ;)

I used to cross stitch a fair amount years ago, and I miss doing that too. I tried picking it up again last year but I never did finish the project I was working on. I think my problem was that I picked something too large, I should have picked something smaller and worked my way up from there. I’ve always like the simple cross stitch patterns, I should get back into that. I’m an impatient person, so I need to work on smaller projects so I don’t get bored so easily.

Again, so many crafts that I want to do all at once. I have so many ideas in my head, but I’m also a procrastinator, so most of them never are seen to completion, and that’s a shame. Someday I’ll really sit down and work on something so I don’t have all these unfinished projects laying about. I also need to reorganize my craft area again, it looks horrendous. Again…procrastination will be the end of me. I always think to myself…’yes, I will do that later’. And later comes and goes…and its still a mess. I keep saying I’ll get myself on a schedule, but that never happens either. I need someone to hold me accountable!!! :)

Ok…speaking of procrastination..I need to get a move on. Lots to do and it’s already almost noon! I’ll be back later to share photos of what I did today, I promise!
